It's bad enough when you have to use a public bathroom. There's no telling what's going to be left from the person/people before you... I little present in the toilet, trash on the floor, no toilet paper... The list is endless and it's already a bad situation, but..
The worst is when someone wants to have a conversation with you while you're going to the bathroom - as in, in the actual act of sitting on/hovering over the toilet doing your business and someone wants to ask how your day is going, what's new, how your family is, etc. It's a very awkward situation but how do you avoid it. Someone asks you a question and you can't just ignore them.
My friend and I were talking about this over the weekend and she said that it's a regular thing in her office for people to be talking on their cell phones while going to the bathroom. I mean, couldn't the conversation wait until you were done? She said people are making doctor appointments, talking to friends, and talking to family all the time in the bathroom. Her answer to this annoyance - an ingenius idea! She makes as much noise as humanly possible - flushing several times, using the automatic paper towel dispenser, etc. This is in the hopes that the person on the other end will finally ask the question "are you going to the bathroom" because this would be one heck of an awkward moment for the person on the phone!
With that said, there are certain situations where it doesn't bother me - basically, a good friend that you don't mind or feel weirded out talking do while doing your business. However, if the conversation can wait, it will!
